Since 2014, the Gasta session and sometimes sessions has been an integral part of the ILTA EdTech conferences.
As a result of attending EdTech in Ireland 2017, I was invited to the Association for Learning Technology (ALT) conference (#ALTc) in 2018 in Manchester and again in Edinburgh in 2019.
While at the ALT conference in Manchester, Clint Lalonde became Gastateer and brought the concept back to British Columbia where it was part of the ETUG ‘s 25th Anniversary Conference in Thompson Rivers University in 2019.
In January 2020 I was delighted to accept Keith Smyth’s invitation to host a Gasta event and the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) Learning & Teaching Academy’s Conference in Inverness.
This brings us up to #GastaGoesGlobal which is uncharted territory in terms of Gasta, moving from a face to face to online environment presents challenges, but if the last few weeks have shown us anything is the resilience and ingenuity of the EdTech community; witness the coming together at ALT’s OER20 conference if you are in any doubt of the way a ‘traditional’ conference can move online!
